AUSTRALIAN MUSIC WEEK 2016
This was the second Australian Music Week this year but it is the first one I have been a part of in an official capacity as an artist. It kicked off on Wednesday night with drinks and food down in a massive marquee in Dunningham Park in Cronulla. This was a great way to get to meet some of the movers and shakers in the music industry, and what a great bunch of people they were. Think I have made a whole lot of new friends.
Then on the Thursday morning we all rocked up to Cronulla RSL for the start of the conferences with many industry people on the panel from Australia, Canada, the USA and Scotland, where there were discussions about international showcase’s, music industry success, copywrite, which I attended and listen and took notes. Then that night I was to play my show at 9:50pm at Space 44. It kicked off at 6:30pm with acts such as De’May, Brielle Davis, Amber Rae Slade, Jen Mize, Fanny Lumsden, Taasha Coates, Diesel and William Crighton and myself. So much amazing talent, by the time it was my turn it was 10:30pm and I maybe had a few to many beers and good times while watching the other acts, because when it came to my time I was a little tippsy and was full of energy, so I hope I gave a good performance.
The next morning, I was feeling a little dusty after the night before, and needed to take care of some other business so regrettably I missed day two of the conference’s and performances. So, this morning I am sitting here writing this and later today I will head back down to Cronulla to take in the rest of the show’s.
I am grateful to have been part of Australian Music Week 2016 and I would like to personally thank Geoff Trio for letting me be a part of it.
So now I must put on my dancing shoes and head back down to see the rest of the bands and solo performance.
Till next time
JK
